Angourie House
More famous for surfing and fishing, the hamlet of Angourie is very modest in terms of housing stock. This project seeks to bring architecture, albeit casual and informal, that is suitably responsive and appropriate for the location. The architecture has an emphasis on environmentally responsive design producing a modest scale of home that embraces the locational features and promotes a casual, outdoor lifestyle.
A compact plan incorporates the coastal informality of the entry washdown and de-sanding ritual, necessary in beach town homes. Generous Deck areas give transitional space to the interior, whilst maximising front and rear garden connections and optimising the upper-level views.
The material palette is simple, predominantly utilising painted FC, contrasted with natural stained hardwood. The timber cladding is strategically located for ease of maintenance.
